Whole Class Instruction
(see D. Tush to check out this ready made activity) activity adapted from J. Dodson Set the purpose: “This activity will give you a chance to build words by practicing what you already know about letters and sounds. Sot the letter cards into three baskets. First basket: beginning consonants, digraphs, and initial blends (depending on what has already been taught), mounted on green paper. Second basket: vowels or vowel teams mounted on yellow paper. Third basket: ending consonant digraphs, and ending blends mounted on red paper.
Students participate in a folder activity that reinforces the same word building concept that was introduced to the whole class.
*After the students have created and recorded a word, they place the sticky notes back on the top half of their folder to be used again to form a new word. |
